Higher order QCD corrections will be of particular interest in the near future since the most important colliders after LEP, i.e. LHC and the Tevatron, will be hadron colliders. Therefore a precise knowledge of quark and gluon densities is mandatory. The momentum dependence of these parton densities can be calculated if the Altarelli-Parisi splitting functions are known. By now the two-loop results for the splitting functions are available even in the spin dependent case, but as yet there is no method which is both, highly efficient and formally reliable enough to be extended to three loops. The results presented here may serve as a tool to improve this situation.
